Mayor Joy Belmonte inspects barangay halls, markets

August 14, 2019

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte spent the Eid Al Adha holiday going around the city to personally check the concerns brought to her attention via social media. Mayor Joy Belmonte visited several barangay halls, and markets to see how the city government can decongest the area. The chief executive also checked vacant lots which can be potentially developed into a public market and multi-level parking facility. At her last Monday’s inspection, Mayor Joy also discovered that the vendors in ‘Luzon wet and dry market’ have been paying their rent to a ‘private organizer’. “Gusto kong makita kung sino ang naniningil sa inyo. Ayaw kong pinagsasamantalahan kayo,” Mayor Joy said referring to the estimated 200 vendors who have been paying 80 to 150 pesos daily to the private company. The mayor has summoned the owner of the company to city hall to show proof that the collection of fees is legal and if the firm has a business permit and pays taxes to the city government.
